Just updated #vivaldi to 7.6.3797.56 on my desktop (running on #debian 13 + #kde 6 using #wayland)

And now, I'm unable to do anything anymore: window open, and everything looks like to be "disabled"

Starting Vivaldi from command line returnns some kind of errors but not sure if it's related with my problem..

Nowadays it's always a stress to update things

I made an upgrade from #debian12 to #debian13 on all my devices: desktop computer, laptop, VPS.

Everything went smooth with #debian upgrade as usual

The only thing wrong was upgrade to #plasma6 for which #KDE switched from #X11 to #wayland and I was dumb enough to decide to give it another chance (my previous tries of Wayland were just failures)
So it's still not good. It's really quite better than months ago but there's application that can't work anymore, like #ksnip

Comment like this one We obviously cannot grant every process access to the screenshots infrastructure let me think that we're also entering in a world where not only GAFAM decide for you, but also FOSS project will now decide which software (their) can bypass security and which (all the one they don't like?) have to use restricted usage with weird UI...

Also #virtualbox doesn't work anymore too (looks like screen size detected is 0x0 and then crash at starting a VM); I'll probably have to switch to #KVM or something else, not sure.
I didn't had the time to test #Krita yet (even if I know Dmitry worked on a #wayland port...)

Doing some tests with my testing #GoToSocial instance.

I've created an account for which follow request must be approved manually.
After ~20 minutes I finally found that the approval/rejection of request is not available from #gts user settings panel, but through the client (at least I can manage it in Tusky)

It's mostly 9.00pm and my brain is not able to manage a simple thing like this, time to go to bed: I'll manage my #slurp migration tests another day...

Because of KPI, it's forbidden to create HOTFIX for production.
So, it seems it's better to have good KPI rather than a good service to business...

I'm not sure whappened with my #vivaldi browser but I updated and restarted it and now, it seems to consider to use 'light' theme even if desktop is dark and even Vivaldi setting is explicitly set to dark.
The CSS prefers-color-scheme: light seems to be applied whatever the configuration I made

I have an iPhone, not sure which one, but not the last one for sure

I suppose everybody will be like "wow you're lucky!" or something like this, having an iPhone seems to be THE thing to have.
But in fact I'm just unable to understand how to use it, so I don't use it.

I'm probably really dumb as it seems iPhone are the most simple and efficient user interface experience.

Am I alone in this case?
Or is there on earth other people absolutely not comfy with iPhone UI?

Note for whom is wondering why I have an iPhone I don't use: it's the phone provided by my company; we can use it "as we want" and install what we want on it, using our own apple account (or something like if I understood..)
I only use it as a phone for on-call evenings...

Piracy

• you're poor, can't pay for all the shiny movies you want to watch, the good music you want to listen, the marvelous books you want to read and not available in libraries (because Trump&Co. burnt them)
• you illegally download a couple of them
• you even didn't had the time to watch/listen/read them
  => you're a f*cking criminal, because of you, the major won't be able to make as much as billion dollars of benefits as they want: go to jail and pay a hefty fine

Fair use

• you're insanely rich, like so much billions, you can literally buy some countries
• you illegally download hundred of thousand (if not thousand of thousand) of them
• you make it plagiarism and counterfeit that you can now sell for a high price
  => you're in a fair use case because you know, you need to do it before the Chinese do it otherwise they will make billions in place of you and it wouldn't be fair: get the law being adapted to your case and get a publicly funded subsidy

Due to some kind of depressive state resulting from a mix of many things, and also due to a lack of time now I'm a full time dad with a huge lack of sleep, I didn't coded anything for #krita since a long time (my plugins or Krita itself).

I even didn't draw anything from a long time

I'm not sure when I'll be able to find time and energy to update and continue to improve the plugins but at least, I've migrated all my #github repositories to #codeberg
Repo on GitHub are still available in archive mode, with a link to their active Codeberg repo.

So, few weeks ago I've installed a second instance of #GoToSocial for testing purpose.
The primary reason was to test #slurp but finally I didn't tested it yet, lack of time but also because the #mastodon instance from which I want to test the import does not let me export the history of messages & medias

But ok, it's not a real problem for now, I'm not in a hurry to migrate the mastodon account.

For now what I'm trying to understand is how a #gts instance is federating and give me access to the #fediverse.
The documentation is not clear about this, or I'm dumb, it's possible too

The thing is I feel a little bit alone here:

• My local timeline is almost empty even federated with ~7700 instances; in fact, there's only what I post myself so totally useless
• My federated timeline is filled with toot of people I'm following; that's totally useless too

It's like hem, in fact the fediverse let you follow stuff people on your instance are following and interacting with.

Currently to discover new accounts and follow topics on which I'm interested to:

• I'm following people, they often retoot stuff I can be interested about and then, I sometime discover new accounts to follow
• I'm following hashtags on third party instances -thanks to @phanpy for this functionality- but it's boring because I can't interact on toot without manual switch to instance...

I've been recommended by @erick (here: https://gts.erick.sh/@erick/statuses/01JN0ZCHN4M5BPWR0FFXJVQYNN) to create a dummy account and follow relay tags/instances (especially https://relay.fedi.buzz) to fill timeline of my instance.
It took me some time to understand how to do that because #GoToSocial doesn't allow like mastodon to use relays.
But basically it's pretty simple: to follow the hashtag, for example #GoToSocial, just follow @tag-gotosocial
To follow an entire timeline of an instance, for example mastodon.art, just follow @instance-mastodon.art

Then, federated timeline of my #gts instance start to be filled with a lot of stuff; starting to follow hashtags from my own instance now returns interesting content

There's still some mystery: not all followed hashtags visible in federated timeline are available when I follow them to my instance (sometime yes, sometimes no...) and I still have tests to realize but I'm quite happy for now, it's a big step ahead about my #SelfHosting instance

I've installed a new instance of #gotosocial yesterday (with one user @patate)
I want to play a bit:

• Test #slurp (I still have another mastodon account I've never migrated because I don't want to lost toot history)
• Try to understand how to federate better (because currently I've to follow hashtag on some other instance than my #gts otherwise I get practically nothing)
• Use it as playground to test gts release candidate (I'm currently to afraid to break my running instance with rc) and play with instance settings (sometime doc are not enough to understand what option really does ) and also manage things like restoring a backup to see what really happen (especially if backup is a bit old)

The magic thing is, it took me less than 20min to install & setup from scratch, using command line on a terminal
So I will be able to delete/recreate instance easily during my tests

But I don't want to pollute "normal" users of #fediverse with this tests so I'm wondering how people (dev, beta tester) usually does..
Is there some "testing account/instances" on which it's possible to interact with (boosting, like, messages, ping...) but without annoying them (I already use my own accounts but I think it's pretty limited )
